XLR8 is launched in a colloquium held in Lagos and chaired by former Nigerian Health Minister, Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi. Speakers are Adrian Wood, formerly CEO of MTN Nigeria, Pat Utomi, professor of political economy at the Lagos Business School and Calixthus Okoruwa, founding Chief Executive Officer, XLR8.

December 2004

Its first staff outside of the CEO, Mimi Deke is hired.

Jan. 2005

XLR8 begins consulting for IBM West Africa.

March 2005

XLR8 begins inaugural eNNOVATE Expo, an exhibition on technological innovation and value added services. Nigeria’s Communications Minister, Cornelius Adebayo personally flags off the expo which has Mtel (one of Nigeria’s four GSM operators), Hewlett Packard, Accelon, Starcomms (Nigeria’s biggest fixed wireless operator), Reltel (one of Nigeria’s wireless operators), among others as exhibitors.

September 2005

XLR8 begins consulting for Ericsson West Africa.

September 2005

XLR8 begins consulting for Nokia Nigeria.

March 2006

XLR8 holds a sequel to eNNOVATE Expo. Again it is personally flagged off by Cornelius Adebayo, Nigeria’s communications minister. Participants include Nokia, DHL, MTN, Starcomms, APC, eTranzact, Accelon among others.

March 2006

XLR8 begins consulting for Cisco West Africa

May 2006

XLR8 begins consulting for eTranzact, a multichannel payment platform. By December 2006, the company acknowledges a rev up of brand visibility and greater key target audience understanding of eTranzact’s offering and increasing patronage.

August 2006

XLR8 discontinues consultancy for Nokia.

May 2007

XLR8 wins a competitive bid by 8 communications consultancies for the MTN Corporate Communications business. It begins consulting for MTN, Nigeria’s most formidable corporate brand.

July 2007

XLR8 relinquishes the Ericsson business.

July 2007

XLR8 wins its first job outside of the information and communications technology sector, it is requested by Unity Bank Plc to manage the entire communications in connection with the launch of its four first ever products.
